7th Expanded National Msme Clinics: Nexim Bank Drives Support For Small Businesses In Akure, Ondo State
The Bank enhanced its strategic engagement with Nigeria’s Small and Medium‑sized Enterprises (MSMEs) at the 7th Expanded National MSME Clinics held on 5 August 2025 at the International Culture and Event Centre, The Dome Akure, Ondo State. This event is part of a series of nationwide forums organised by the office of the Vice President of Nigeria to facilitate real‑time solutions for MSME challenges, The forum brings together key regulatory agencies, financial institutions, business support organisations, and entrepreneurs for targeted engagements, strategic networking and capacity‑building.
The NEXIM Bank delegation was led by Mr. Folarin Tamiyu, Head of the Akure Regional Office and his team. The NEXIM team engaged with stakeholders and provided insights on the Bank’s financial products and export support solutions tailored for MSMEs aspiring to upscale operations and integrate into national and international value chains. Through one‑on‑one advisory sessions and information dissemination, NEXIM helped participating enterprises better understand access to finance pathways, export readiness requirements, and value‑added opportunities within the Bank’s mandate.
The expanded clinic, which serves as a bridge between government agencies and business operators, was formally launched by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who emphasised on the importance of MSMEs to national economic growth. Shettima announced the disbursement of ₦250,000 unconditional grants to outstanding MSMEs showcased at the clinic as a non‑repayable support aimed at enhancing business resilience and growth. He reiterated that MSMEs account for over 90% of businesses in Nigeria, contribute more than 45% to national GDP, and employ over 60 million Nigerians, making them central to sustainable economic development.
Governors, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries at the event reaffirmed their shared commitment towards supporting grassroots enterprise development. The forum enabled MSME operators to directly engage with regulatory agencies and financial partners, seeking solutions to regulatory bottlenecks and exploring funding and market access opportunities.
