Advancing Strategic Collaboration for Economic Growth: MD/CEO of NEXIM Pays Courtesy Visit to CBN Governor
In furtherance of ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-institutional collaboration in support of Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Mr. Abba Bello, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, on 22 April 2026 at the CBN Headquarters in Abuja.
The high-level engagement provided a valuable platform for both institutions to deliberate on strategic priorities aimed at accelerating economic growth, enhancing trade competitiveness, and strengthening Nigeria’s export sector. Central to the discussions were measures to expand trade and export financing, deepen support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and promote value addition across key sectors of the economy.
Both leaders underscored the importance of stronger alignment between development finance interventions and national economic priorities, particularly in driving job creation, improving productivity, and generating sustainable foreign exchange earnings through non-oil exports.
The meeting also highlighted the imperative of deeper institutional collaboration in advancing policies and programmes that promote economic diversification and position Nigeria for sustainable, long-term, and inclusive growth. By leveraging their complementary mandates, NEXIM and the CBN reaffirmed their shared commitment to fostering an enabling environment for exporters, businesses, and investors.
The visit further reinforced the resolve of both institutions to deepen cooperation, strengthen policy coordination, and deliver tangible outcomes that will contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s sustainable economic development and global trade competitiveness.
