World MSME Day Celebration
The Nigerian Export-Import Bank joined stakeholders from across the country to commemorate the 2026 World MSME Day at the 8th National MSME Awards 2026, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to supporting the growth, competitiveness, and export readiness of Nigeria's micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The event, which brought together policymakers, development partners, financial institutions, entrepreneurs, and business support organisations, celebrated the remarkable contributions of MSMEs to Nigeria's economic growth, job creation, innovation, and industrial development.
Leading NEXIM Bank's delegation to the event, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Abubakar Abba Bello, presented the NEXIM Award of Excellence for MSME Clinics Participation (Male Category) to Kosai Republic from Katsina State, in recognition of the enterprise's outstanding entrepreneurial achievement, resilience, and commitment to business excellence.
The award recognises enterprises that have demonstrated exceptional performance and have leveraged the MSME Clinics initiative to improve their business operations, expand market opportunities, and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria's economic development.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Bello reaffirmed NEXIM Bank's strategic focus on empowering Nigerian MSMEs through accessible financing, export development programmes, and capacity-building initiatives designed to help businesses scale sustainably and compete in regional and international markets.
He noted that MSMEs remain the backbone of Nigeria's economy and play a critical role in driving inclusive growth, employment generation, value addition, and economic diversification. According to him, strengthening the sector through targeted financial and technical support is essential to unlocking the country's export potential and enhancing the global competitiveness of Nigerian products and services.
